Guide

Sindh vehicle verification explained

They answer different questions. The Excise Sindh record says who the car is registered to and what Excise holds about it. CPLC says whether it has been reported stolen or snatched. A car can have a clean registration and still be stolen with cloned papers, so in Karachi do both — see CPLC vehicle verification.

Sellers should run their own CNIC through Vehicle Verification by CNIC a few weeks after a sale. If the car still appears, the buyer hasn’t transferred it — and challans and tax notices keep coming to you.

Since Sindh’s 2026 amendment, a vehicle needs valid third-party insurance before registration, transfer or yearly tax; Excise Sindh lists approved insurers on its site. Transfer fees run from Rs 1,600 (up to 800cc) to Rs 7,000, and Rs 500 for a motorcycle.

If the record shows tax due, Excise Sindh takes it online through its tax portal (Online Tax Payment or Quick Pay) — see Sindh vehicle tax for the amounts.
